Texas Debt Law

Being sued and served

Can I be sued for a debt I don't recognize?

Short answer

Yes. Debt buyers often sue under their own names, such as Midland Funding or LVNV Funding, for accounts bought from the original lender, so the name may not look familiar. You still need to answer. Not recognizing the debt is a reason to make them prove it, not a reason to ignore the suit.
